A franchisee for Applebee’s has closed five locations in the Valley after buying the chain from another group. KTAR reporter two of the chain’s restaurants in Chandler, two in Gilbert and one in Scottsdale were affected. A total of nine Applebee’s in the franchisee’s operations were shuttered. There still are 19 Applebee’s in the Phoenix metro area.
