A proposed ordinance amendment in Minneapolis would force some restaurants and bars to carry ear plugs in the case that the noise is too loud for patrons. The ordinance, authored by new City Council Member Jacob Frey (Ward 3), is up for a public hearing on April 1. The measure would extend only to Class A and Class B on-sale liquor, wine and beer license holders, which would rule out smaller neighborhood restaurants.
