The days leading up to the 4th of July weekend had businesses holding their breath hoping that the holiday would drive traffic to the shore since the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. The large crowds of people that flooded the beaches, boardwalks, shops, and restaurants boosted the spirits of many businesses and showed support from New Jersey vacationers.
Many businesses offered entertainment and specials along their beachfront locations attracting patrons. Belmar’s club favorite, D’Jais started the celebration off on July 3rd with music, dancing, and drink specials. Long Branch held their 23rd Annual “Oceanfest” that stretched along the boardwalk featuring music, performances, food, and giveaways. The Stone Pony in Asbury Park continued the holiday weekend excitement with sold out performances of popular bands; Brighton, This Century, A Rocket to the Moon, and The Maine on Saturday night. Point Pleasant along with many other beaches had parades and fireworks displays lasting all weekend long.
