Waikiki Beach Walk® Expands Its Online Presence for Travelers From Asia

Travelers from Japan, China, and Korea can now learn about Waikiki Beach Walk® online in their own languages prior to arriving in Hawaii. Outrigger Hotels and Resorts, which markets Waikiki Beach Walk®, has joined efforts with PacRim Marketing Group to host pages featuring the retail center, its stores, restaurants, and activities utilizing PacRim’s three proprietary Asian language websites about Hawaii.

Travelers from Japan, China, and Korea can now learn about Waikiki Beach Walk® online in their own languages prior to arriving in Hawaii. Outrigger Hotels and Resorts, which markets Waikiki Beach Walk®, has joined efforts with PacRim Marketing Group to host pages featuring the retail center, its stores, restaurants, and activities utilizing PacRim’s three proprietary Asian language websites about Hawaii.

Each site has a strong following and an established fan base. Hawaii Arukikata is the largest commercial website about Hawaii in Japanese, with more than 600,000 views per month, while the newer Korean and Chinese websites are growing in popularity. Updated daily, the sites promote Hawaii’s news, events and activities through live interviews with Asian travelers, feature stories, and videos.

"The partnership with PacRim Marketing Group and these websites enables us to promote the wonderful array of shops and restaurants that make up Waikiki Beach Walk and the center’s ongoing calendar of special events and weekly entertainment," said Barbara Campbell, vice president of retail development and leasing for Outrigger Enterprises Group. "This encourages visitors to plan their travel around these events and impacts their decisions after they arrive in Hawaii."

Produced by PacRim Marketing Group, the new Waikiki Beach Walk web pages include photos, video, a directory, and a map, giving retailers and restaurants an opportunity to place advertorials and be featured with photos and video.

"We are pleased to offer our merchants support in Asian languages key to the Hawaii market to help expose their brands in an appealing way and attract customers to their shops and restaurants," said Conchita Malaqui, general manager of Waikiki Beach Walk. "Waikiki Beach Walk already has a strong online presence in English. Using PacRim’s three Asian language websites allows our merchants to expand their reach and traction across Japan, China, and Korea."

According to Kim Fujinaka, PacRim Marketing Group’s integrated marketing and client services manager, PacRim will continue to update and provide content for the web pages. "Our website editors also post content written for Waikiki Beach Walk pages on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs such as Korea’s Naver and China’s Weibo and YouKu to give businesses and brands further exposure in Asian languages," said Fujinaka. "The integrated online marketing strategy helps them increase the Asian International Traveler portion of their customer bases."

Content on each of the Asian language websites is updated daily by PacRim Marketing Group editors, who also interact online with followers and live feeds from Twitter or associated blogs in Chinese and Korean, and YouTube. All three websites host digital advertisers, advertorial, and sponsorships from U.S. based companies wanting to increase share and spend from Asia.
