PayPal updated its iOS and Android apps on Thursday, adding the ability to order ahead from restaurants.
That feature, which PayPal had tested earlier this year, was made possible through a partnership with Eat24. About 1,000 restaurants will offer the service.

Other changes include a new tab called "Shop" that lets users find nearby stores or restaurants that accept PayPal. The tab also lets you check in a la Foursquare. Meanwhile, you can add new accounts to the payment system by snapping a picture of your credit card.
As with other mobile payment apps, like Google Wallet, utility depends on a great extent on the network of merchants that are offering support for the payment system.
