Venice has an undeserved reputation for terrible food, mostly due to the scores of tourist trap restaurants with hosts in tuxedos beckoning the gullible in from the lanes around St Marks Square. Anyone who’s been to the Rialto Market, though, or to the small restaurants that locals frequent knows that there is also exceptional food here. And as the late, revered cookbook author Marcella Hazan showed with her in-demand cooking classes, Venice is a great place to learn how to cook.
